Please note this is a raw pigment intended to be dispersed into a liquid medium to make paints. Our raw pigments are not meant for use in cosmetics and are not cosmetic grade. Certain pigments disperse more easily than others in certain liquid mediums. For those difficult to disperse into a liquid of your choice, they will need to be ground by a muller or a mortar and pestle into the medium.

Safety note: Handle all dry pigments with care. Work slowly to avoid generating airborne dust and wear a dust mask for extra protection. Also avoid getting the dust all over your hands. Latex gloves are good at providing skin protection without "getting in the way".

This is another carbonate pigment like cobalt carbonate that is used in ceramic glazes but not much mentioned as a general pigment. It is a light, bright green. Unlike cobalt carbonate, which I see in several differing shades in pictures from different sources, nickel carbonate appears as this same light green color in all the pictures I see.
Wiki has some information on it [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nickel(II)_carbonate ]. They say: "Nickel (II) carbonate describes one or a mixture of inorganic compounds containing nickel and carbonate. From the industrial perspective, the most important nickel carbonate is basic nickel carbonate with the formula Ni4CO3(OH)6(H2O)4. Simpler carbonates, ones more likely encountered in the laboratory, are NiCO3 and its hexahydrate. All are paramagnetic green solid containing Ni2+ cations. The basic carbonate is an intermediate in the hydrometallurgical purification of nickel from its ores and is used in electroplating of nickel.... [other uses]... some ceramic applications and as precursors to catalysts."
American Elements, a manufacturer [ https://www.americanelements.com/nickel-carbonate-3333-67-3 ] says: "Nickel Carbonate is a water insoluble Nickel source that can easily be converted to other Nickel compounds, such as the oxide by heating (calcination). Carbonate compounds also give off carbon dioxide when treated with dilute acids. Nickel Carbonate is generally immediately available in most volumes. High purity, submicron and nanopowder forms may be considered."
I tried researching whether it could be another useful colorant for use in artist's paints, but didn't get very far. Perhaps it's because it's not as stable as the oxide pigments, although several other carbonates are in use and are listed in the Wiki list of inorganic pigments, among them, the copper carbonates found in the minerals azurite and malachite:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_inorganic_pigments
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Azurite
"Azurite is one of the two basic copper(II) carbonate minerals, the other being bright green malachite.....Cupric carbonate hydroxide (Cu3(CO3)2(OH)2)"
Nickel carbonate scores slightly worse in terms of human health, getting a 2,0,0 on the NFPA diamond which is the case for several other pigments that are in use (besides lead compounds which are no longer in use because of human toxicity, there is Zinc oxide, Antimony white, and Manganese dioxide: all need to be handled with care).
The DigitalFire ceramics database says only that nickel carbonate is used in glazes and in glass.

The cost in my cart seems too high, what can I do?

This problem usually occurs with multiple items. We have free shipping on many of our items. In your cart items will have the sum of all embedded shipping costs. If you place an order for 3 or more "FreeShip" items, you will receive a "rebate" for the excess shipping. The more items you have the greater the shipping refund will be. You can also message us to ask what the total cost of your order will be when excess shipping is refunded before you purchase.
Or, if you see "Request a Custom Order" or "Message Seller", you can request a custom order and your items will be put in a custom listing with the correct shipping. You would purchase it like any other listing.
