This is a "safe" solvent, in quotes because it is "relatively" safe, no organic solvent is completely safe. There are two other "safe" organic liquids than can be used with liquid resins as solvents (links above): benzyl alcohol (mostly good for epoxies), and phosflex (essentially non-flammable). Read the listing descriptions for all 3 to find out more about them, because they each have other uses as: "flexibilizers" (plasticizers), "thinners", "de-airing" agents, etc.
DBE has a high flash and auto-ignite temperature, is almost odorless, has a low vapor pressure and evaporation rate (evaporates slowly, which, depending on your particular needs could be good or bad). The downside of DBE or the others? Probably foremost is they're much more expensive than acetone, toluol (toluene), naptha, etc, on a gallon to gallon basis.
The supplier says this: "This is a 'safe' solvent in that it is a very low toxicity material used for cleaning up polyester, epoxy, and polyurethane resins, and will do so very nicely. The problem is that it evaporates very slowly. It is not considered a flammable solvent. It has a very high flash point and is classified as a combustible solvent". Note that they believe solvents need to evaporate quickly to be good solvents, and for many uses, they're right, but not always (all 3 of the solvents mentioned above evaporate slowly).
The Wiki article is not real comprehensive:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dibasic_ester
"....dibasic ester or DBE is an ester of a dicarboxylic acid....They are non-flammable, readily biodegradable, non-corrosive, and have a mild, fruity odour.....Mixtures of different methyl dibasic esters are commercially produced from short-chain acids such as adipic acid, glutaric acid, and succinic acid.....Applications: Dibasic esters are used in paints, coil coatings, paint strippers, coatings, plasticizers, resins, binders, solvents, polyols, soil stabilization, chemical grouting, oilfield drilling fluids, crop protection products, cedar spray, and adhesives."
Another site (a manufacturer) has more information in a PDF file:

"Dibasic esters (DBEs) are refined dimethyl esters......The primary product is designated DBE. DBE is further distilled to produce six DBE fractions for specialty applications: DBE-2, DBE-3, DBE-4, DBE-5, DBE-6, and DBE-9. DBEs are clear, colorless liquids having a mild, agreeable odor. They are readily soluble in alcohols, ketones, ethers, and many hydrocarbons, but are only slightly soluble in water and higher paraffins.
Applications: Solvents, Industrial coatings, Coil/sheet coatings, Waterborne coatings, Magnet wire coatings, Automotive coatings, Industrial cleaners, Resin cleanup, Paint removers, Foundry core binders, Printing inks, Textile lubricants, Magnetic memory disc coatings, Urethane reaction solvents, Peroxide solvents, Chemical grouting/soil stabilization, Plasticizers, Polymer Intermediates.

The cost in my cart seems too high, what can I do?
This problem usually occurs with multiple items. We have free shipping on many of our items. In your cart items will have the sum of all embedded shipping costs. If you place an order for 3 or more "FreeShip" items, you will receive a "rebate" for the excess shipping. The more items you have the greater the shipping refund will be. You can also message us to ask what the total cost of your order will be when excess shipping is refunded before you purchase.
Or, if you see "Request a Custom Order" or "Message Seller", you can request a custom order and your items will be put in a custom listing with the correct shipping. You would purchase it like any other listing.
