****************
B-44 is another Paraloid thermoplastic acrylic copolymer. Here is a CAMEO chart which has comparative information on a number of Paraloid resins; it's very handy and I refer to it (and the one below it) a lot:
http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=5&ved=0ahUKEwiJtruc8vvRAhVS8GMKHS50Aa8QFgg1MAQ&url=http%3A%2F%2Fcameo.mfa.org%2Fimages%2F1%2F12%2FDownload_file_539.pdf&usg=AFQjCNEDZMFUdNC74CLl54yxn0YGgHyA2Q
This is another very handy chart which gives the solubility of 10 Paraloid resins in various solvents (alcohols, esters, glycols, hydrocarbons, and ketones):
http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&ved=0ahUKEwir3reHofzRAhVQ42MKHRCABEcQFggaMAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.talasonline.com%2Fimages%2FPDF%2FProductInformation%2Fparaloid_solvent_guide.pdf&usg=AFQjCNFZaoxaZHuGUvtKVfJSJ2_-NnoBLg&bvm=bv.146094739,d.cGc
Referring to the above charts we find that B-44 is quite a bit harder than any of the other three Paraloid resins I have (15-16 KHN) and that it has very excellent adhesion to untreated substrates, even PVDF (! polyvinylidene fluoride, which is a fluoropolymer, as is Teflon !), and that its glass transition point is the highest of any of the Paraloid resins I have (Tg = 140F, the temperature at which it turns from a hard polymer to a rubbery polymer), and also that its solubility in acetone and MEK is good, with low viscosity in a 40% solids solution (in toluene the viscosity is about 3 times higher).
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B-44 is another Paraloid thermoplastic acrylic copolymer (methylmethacrylate and ethylacrylate) that can be easily dissolved in solvents to make a very high quality, transparent, non-reactive adhesive and coating for museum quality ceramics or glass, and other materials. It's also used commercially on a larger scale as a coating.
I have B-72, B-44, B-48N, and B-67. They differ in the specific polymer(s) used to make them, their solubility in specific solvents, and in their physical properties.
There is a fair amount of information on the internet about B-44 although not nearly as much as B-72, the most widely known Paraloid resin. Some links are here:
A general article on several polymeric coatings (and detailed info on B-72 and B-67):

A usage and properties data sheet on B-44 by Dow, the manufacturer:
https://www.ulprospector.com/en/na/Coatings/Detail/2235/74939/PARALOID-B-44
Dow says:
"It is a solid grade thermoplastic acrylic resin that provides an outstanding combination of hardness, flexibility, and adhesion to various substrates. It permits wider latitude in formulating in solvents that are suitable for specific applications. This product is slightly softer and more flexible than other resins and has excellent adhesion to various substrates. It is well suited for treated metal, copper, zinc, brass, treated aluminum, concrete floors, and certain plastics."
When they say it's slightly softer than other resins, they mean in comparison to pure methylmethacrylate, I think, because otherwise it stands out as the 2nd hardest of the Paraloid resins.
A supplier says this about B-44:
"Paraloid B-44 is an Ethyl acrylate copolymer. It is suggested to be used for the coating of bones, metal and stone. Supplied in pellet form." (not much info!)
The CAMEO database has additional information:
"The Museum of Fine Arts Boston
Conservation and Art Materials Encyclopedia Online (CAMEO)
The Cameo Materials Database is an electronic database that compiles, defines, and disseminates technical information on the distinct collection of terms, materials, and techniques used in the fields of art conservation and historic preservation."

The cost in my cart seems too high, what can I do?

This problem usually occurs with multiple items. We have free shipping on many of our items. In your cart items will have the sum of all embedded shipping costs. If you place an order for 3 or more "FreeShip" items, you will receive a "rebate" for the excess shipping. The more items you have the greater the shipping refund will be. You can also message us to ask what the total cost of your order will be when excess shipping is refunded before you purchase.
Or, if you see "Request a Custom Order" or "Message Seller", you can request a custom order and your items will be put in a custom listing with the correct shipping. You would purchase it like any other listing.

Average:

on time, in full, error free. great product. dissolves overnight in acetone. looks great dry.

Very helpful customer service, helped me switch an accidental order. Shipped well and item as described.

Exactly as described, but would have liked directions on how to mix it with acetone for fossils.

Received my order quickly. Thank you!

Exactly what I needed. I didn't need a lot, and this was a very good price. Second time purchasing from this shop, and would highly recommend.
