With a memorable name like pea gravel, many people like handymen, landscapers, construction workers, carpenters, and homeowners alike know what this is or have heard of it. It's name refers to its size, which is supposed to be about the size of peas. It also refers to its rounded shape, it's not crushed and sharply angular like road gravel. It's like river sand, dredged as is from the earth, from old stream or river beds. I've used it many times before, usually in dump truck quantities as a landscaping material which is where it really where it shines. It ranges in sizes from about 3-15mm. The colors tend to be on the darker side than the large pea gravel we carry. Surrounding plants is a great use (but of coarse you need to go to a gravel yard to get enough for landscaping). These small quantities just help you decide what you like best (we have another, larger size).
Pea gravel varies in size ranges depending on the quarry or gravel yard. It's screened to a range of sizes and different suppliers get it from gravel quarries that have different screen sizes for whatever size they consider pea gravel should be. Probably, their experience with what size sells better influences what sizes they select.
This particular pea gravel came from a gravel yard and was called "pea gravel" by them. After giving it an additional washing it looks good. It has nicely rounded edges but is less rounded than the Large Pea Gravel. It has a variety of colors (when wet with water or resin or linseed oil, its color becomes richer). It's relatively correct/small for pea gravel. There are pieces that are that smaller than peas. But "pea gravel" is just a name. If you have a particular project you're working on that needs small stones and you like this size, then you've found what you need. This would work very well in concrete for small objects (not as small as concrete jewelry though). There's a wider range of small stone sizes than the large pea gravel we have. A wide distribution of stone sizes makes strong concrete. Its more angular shape (even though the edges are all rounded) also makes for a strong concrete.
Because of the rounded shapes, pea gravel slides past itself, even when walking on it unless it's become bedded over a period of several years. That "sliding" property makes it not much good for driveways. If you have a art or craft use that needs small amounts of concrete this gravel will work fine.

If you place an order for 3 or more "FreeShip" items, you will receive a "rebate" for the excess shipping. The more items you have the greater the shipping refund will be. You can also message us to ask what the total cost of your order will be when excess shipping is refunded before you purchase.
Or, if you see "Request a Custom Order" or "Message Seller", you can request a custom order and your items will be put in a custom listing with the correct shipping. You would purchase it like any other listing.
